My hair has been blue for a few months now, and I documented the process of going from blonde to teal with oVertone’s color system.
Bonus: The entire line is vegan and cruelty-free!
If you have fantasy hair already, then you can add their products onto your routine to make maintaining a breeze. On the other hand, if you don’t already have colorful hair, you can add color to already-bleached hair using their weekly treatment, which is what I did. (oVertone’s got a neat page that explains this process in pictures.) I used the shade Pastel Teal and purchase the complete system, which for me comes out to $45 every two months.
Overall, application is a breeze — it feels and acts like a hair mask, with the added effect of leaving your hair a beautiful fantasy color when all is said and done! Gloves are probably a good idea, but I never use them.
My current routine involves using the daily conditioner when I wash my hair (duh) and the weekly treatment every two weeks or so. I find that the weekly treatment can be used a little less frequently to maintain the paler shade I like. I mix the weekly treatment with white conditioner if I’m planning to leave it on for a while so it doesn’t get too vibrant, or apply as-is for a quicker 15-minute treatment. Either way, my hair always feels soft and silky immediately after using it!
Overall, I couldn’t be happier with how easy it’s been to maintain my pastel teal hair! I highly recommend oVertone’s products if you’re looking to dip your toe into the waters of fantasy hair, or if you’re already dying your hair fun colors but want an easier way to maintain it.
